Arena Poznań is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city, combining a rich history with a forward-thinking approach to event organization. The venue was built at the initiative of city authorities in response to the growing need for a modern sports and entertainment hall. Construction began on July 1, 1972, and — remarkably fast for the time — the Arena officially opened just 23 months later, on June 28, 1974.

The architectural design was led by Jerzy Turzeniecki’s team. Innovative construction solutions — including a movable lighting ramp cabin and a foldable stage screen — were submitted to the Patent Office, proving the venue’s pioneering spirit from the very beginning. At the height of its popularity, Arena Poznań hosted major music stars, unforgettable sporting events, and numerous cultural happenings.

A new chapter for a legend

Thanks to the complex modernization project, Arena Poznań is set to become one of the most advanced entertainment and sports venues in Poland — without losing its historical soul.

The revitalization project includes:

• preservation of the original façade, featuring steel, concrete, and glass,
• a lowered floor level and a complete reconfiguration of the seating layout — new, mobile, multi-level stands will increase capacity and introduce skyboxes perfect for business and VIP meetings,
• a modern interior designed in an elegant, timeless style,
• advanced stage infrastructure, including a new technical rig beneath the hall’s dome,
• a comprehensive event offering: dressing rooms, backstage facilities, conference rooms, a food court, and a restaurant with a terrace open beyond event hours,
• capacity for up to 9,000 attendees depending on event configuration,
• revitalized surrounding areas to create an attractive public space.
